BARAK HOSTING - DATA CENTERS

The Barak Hosting data centers are facilities used to house computer systems, servers, firewalls, switches and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. An important requirement is the inclusion of redundant and backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (air conditioning, fire suppression, etc.), and special security operations.
One of our main concerns is business continuity as our clients rely on our information systems to run their business operations. Information security is also a concern, and for this reason all our data centers are required to offer a secure environment which minimizes the chances of a security breach. We require all the data centers to keep high standards for assuring the integrity and functionality of our hosting environment.
The physical environment of the data center is usually under strict control:
  • Air conditioning is used to keep the room cool; it may also be used for humidity control. Generally, temperature is kept around 20-22 degrees Celsius (about 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit).

  • Backup power is provided by one or more uninterruptible power supplies and/or diesel generators.

  • To prevent single points of failure, all elements of the electrical systems, including backup system, are typically fully duplicated, and critical servers are connected to both the "A-side" and "B-side" power feeds.

  • Our Data centers typically have raised flooring made up of 60 cm (2 ft) removable square tiles. The trend is towards 80-100cm void to cater for better and uniform air distribution.

  • Our Data centers have elaborate fire prevention and fire extinguishing systems. Fire prevention and detection systems are zoned, and high-quality fire-doors and other physical fire-breaks used, so that even if a fire does break out it can be contained and extinguished within a small part of the facility.

  • Using conventional water sprinkler systems on operational electrical equipment can do just as much damage as a fire. Our Data Centers utilize environmentally-friendly alternatives which include Argonite and HFC-227, and some even have systems based on mists of tiny particles of ultra-pure water.

  • Physical security also plays a large role with our data centers. Access to the site is restricted to selected personnel that must be pre-authorized. Video camera surveillance and permanent security guards are always present.
  • Network Infrastructure
An example of "rack mounted" servers.
The Communications in the data centers are based on networks running IP protocol suites. All our Data Centers contain a set of routers and switches that transport the bandwidth traffic between the servers and to the outside world.
Some of the servers at our data centers are used for running the Internet and intranet services needed by our internal staffers: e-mail servers, proxy servers, DNS servers, CRm servers, etc.
We also deploy Network security elements such as firewalls, VPN (Virtual Private Networks) gateways, security intrusion detection systems, etc.
    Applications
Multiple racks of servers displayed in the cabinet setup organization.
The main purpose of our data centers is to run the applications that handle the core business and operational data of our organization and those of our valued clients. Some of our systems are proprietary and have been developed internally by the developers, or bought from many enterprise software vendors. Included are advanced financial systems and CRM applications.
Our system administrators are concerned with just all operations architecture and the varied Managed Services we provide.
Commonly, our applications are composed of multiple hosts, each running single components to provide backup capabilities. Some of the common components of these applications are databases, file servers, CRM servers, application servers, middleware and various others.
Our Data Centers are also used for off site backups between these facilites. many of our clients subscribe to backup services provided by Barak Hosting.
